DIGIPAKS
what is a digipak?
A digipak is a type of packaging for CD's or DVDs, typically made from cardboard with an internal plastic holder for one or more discs.

Digipaks are a personal item that appeals to collectors and fans. They're often signed and therefore allow the fans to feel close to the artists.
Along with this it's a form of identification for the band as it has to represent their attitude and style.

Conventions of indie rock digipaks:
Indie rock digipaks are usually dark, there is a clear contrast between them and the digipaks of the pop genre which are highly colourful and through this tend to show more personality.

Conventions of digipaks:
-
leaflet showing the lyrics
-
an essence of mystery ( solved by purchasing and opening the digipak)
-
the front will usually feature pictures easily related to the band ( eg well known posters)
-
on the back there will usually be a list of the songs on he CD
