Font and Its Effects

Font is a big part of how artists portray themselves, through the use of font artists can make unconscious connections with fans. Font can be used to portray emotions, and can also provide a personal touch.

Above we see the font used for an Ed Sheeran album. The title showcases a type writer, type font. This gives us, the audience a subconscious message that the artist is a singer-song writer, as it looks like something they themselves could have typed

Below are two fonts used by artists in the indie rock genre:

However when looking at the font used by Lana Del Rey on her born to die album, gives off a fairly impersonal touch. We see the righting as quite bold and it gives a stand alone feel, this represents her as an artist as empowered and as a role model for woman to stand alone and be independent.

A common theme shown across the indie genre is a black back ground with white lettering in a bold font. Both of these fonts show that they are non-conformist due to them not being consistent. We see an example of this when looking at the imagine dragons logo there is an A with a line through and an A where it is missing, this gives a rebellious effect. In terms of the arctic moneys font type we see that it is not on a straight long and there is what seems to be random waves in letters such as thw N and the K.
